Germanium - Distortion
The Germanium is an exact clone of a Cornish G-2 pedal from 2014. We painstakingly reverse engineered the original and replicated it using the same board flow and component layout.
The Germanium excels at soaring overdrive to harmonically rich distortion with incredible note separation, utilising a combination of four gain stages and the exact rare NOS Germanium diodes as the original for extra warmth and valve-like character - and that classic cranked up stack sound.
This is our favourite pedal in the line up and produces one of the best lead guitar tones in the business - it is after all famously used by David Gilmour. The pedal drips with harmonic content, and you can almost count the overtones as you let big open chords ring out!
We have seen several different circuit variations of the G-2 over the last 15 years including a version from 2008 that used 4 Germanium Diodes. This is the latest version using 2 Germaniums and 2 Schottky diodes.
Features:
Laser-etched faceplate
Class A Line Driver built in (Cornish LD-1)
2 x NOS 1970’s Military spec Germanium diodes
BC549 Transistors
1% metal film resistors, Wima / Kemet capacitors
Alpha pots, Neutrik jack sockets, heavy duty footswitch
Standard 9vDC (centre negative) power input
Handmade in the UK
